Check-hens and Roosters (checkup and boosters)

100_2802_smlVictor:
Mom camed home early today an put me in my carrier. Then she shoved Bonnie into her carrier! She's never put us bof in carriers at the same time. She took me downstairs an into the big room where we's not loud, an put me in her green 4-wheel monster. I thot maybe we was goin on a ride to PetSmart, where I get my nails trimmed (ugh) an we asplore the whole store. It's not zactly fun, but it's okay.

But then she put Bonnie into the monster, too. She nefur put us bof in the monster at the same time afore. Wul, Bonnie started complainin right away. It's a good fing Mom didn't unnerstand what Bonnie said, cuz she called Mom sum reely bad names.

Wul, we had a long ride in the monster (15 minutes!) listenin to Bonnie cursin, an then we was at a place that smelled like lotsa kitties an (ugh!) woofies. Dad camed an started talkin to Bonnie. I kinda almost amember bein there afore, but that was amost a whole year ago! The nice lady in the pajamas tooked me from my carrier efun tho I kinda wanted to stay in. She poked me an petted me an looked into my eyes an ears an mouf. Then she pinched my scruff, but it didn't hurt more than a second. Mom said, "12 pounds, half an ounce - I was right." Then the pajama lady tried to pinch the owwie bump on my ear, but I squirmed an she let me go back into my carrier. The pajama lady sed sumfin bout cleanin my teefs an keepin me ofurnite, but since I'm at home tonite, maybe Mom sed no.

Then they gots Bonnie outa her carrier. The pajama lady musta poked her, too, an they said "11 pounds, 10 ounces." Then they talked bout takin away Bonnie's blood, but they'll get it back in a day or two. I wouldn't want it back like that. Dad tooked Bonnie home in his big red monster an I rode wif Mom in her green monster an it was alot quieter wifout Bonnie there. The end.
GrumpBonnie:
I NEED NEW STAFF!!! I swear, this time I'm gonna replace her. I was just at the V-E-T in April, so why the hiss did she take me there AGAIN??? Sure, I lost a little weight when that brat made me run from my food dish, but that evil V-E-T said I "filled my skin" the last time I was there. Hmph! If that was too heavy and this is too light, there's no pleasin these beans!

First, my woman brought Victor's carrier up. I thot I might asplore it, but HE approached so I left an she trapped him. Aw right, take him AWAY! Then she SHOVED me into my carrier! Have you NO respect? The boy fumbled and shook me all the way down the stairs, then that woman put me into her monster, in the BACK seat next to stoopid Victor. Well, I gave HER a piece of my mind. I'm sure she was goin too fast, an there was too much noise, an I nefur agreed to this trip an there's nothin wrong wif me that this horrid handlin would help!

I was right - the VET. They made me wait while that vet woman made a fuss ofur Victor, then she poked me and squeezed me an tortured me. Then her accomplice grabbed me and held my head and they STOLE MY BLOOD! I saw it! FINALLY they were finished humiliatin me an let me return to my carrier. I ordered my man to take me home in HIS monster, since he treats me MUCH better. I was right, too, cuz we got home furst an I got let out afore Victor. Oh, what an AWFUL way to treat a cat!

CharcoalieCharcoalie:
It was time for Victor's check-up and booster shots, and Mom took Bonnie along to get checked out too. It was almost a year ago that Bonnie stopped eating and had to see the emergency vet. They never found a cause for that other than stress. Also, Bonnie was looking thin recently, but she seems fine now. The vet said the spots on Victor's nose are just pigment and will come and go; the little bumps (moles?) in his ears are also nothing to worry about. Victor will return to the vet for a tooth cleaning next week and they'll keep him overnight to recover so he and Bonnie don't have a bigger fight than usual. They're running blood tests on Bonnie to compare to a year ago, and then they'll talk about possible ways to... adjust... her cattitude and aggressive behavior.

  1. Victor, you're a very brave boy. Like I always say, if you don't fight it, it goes much better!

And Bonnie? You're a pretty girl.

(Psst, Victor--how was that for diplomacy?)

  2. William is used to dealing with sisters....
What a horrible experience for both of you! Bonnie, maybe you'll get Prozac like Beau takes. It worked real good for him.

  6. I'm surprised to hear about Bonnie needing a blood test for her umm, interesting personality and temperament. Hope it turns out alright.

I guess there are lotsa possible causes for cattitude and it's good to check them out. :)

My tortoiseshell Polly still goes for blood tests and reviews re: her congenital liver damage. Apparently one of the signs of severe toxicity is a "marked aggression" towards cats and humans.

  14. How SCARY! We don't like the V-E-T either (although we've heard that our Dr. Jackie is very good). We're glad that you're both back and won't have to have more poking/prodding for awhile.
