Weekend of Hugs

Hi, this is Tabbymom Jen. I want to thank you all again for your wishes and comments about Bonnie. I'm overwhelmed by the response. We're sad, but doing ok. We have so many fond memories of Bonnie. Please remember her with smiles, not tears. Victor and I owe each and every one of you a visit... but it takes time and I have to stop when I start crying again. I'm also giving Victor lots of attention. But really, we're ok.

For the hugging holiday this weekend, I'd like to share a poem from my favorite story-teller, Shel Silverstein.

Hug O'War

I will not play at tug o' war.
I'd rather play at hug o' war,
Where everyone hugs
Instead of tugs,
Where everyone giggles
And rolls on the rug,
Where everyone kisses,
And everyone grins,
And everyone cuddles,
And everyone wins.

- Sheldon Allan Silverstein

Please remember Bonnie with smiles and laughter. We heard thunder rolling in today, and I'm sure it was a game of Thundering Herd of Elephants at the Rainbow Bridge. When they crashed into the fountain, it started raining. And the lightning? Kitty laser eyes, of course! Memories are golden, and we will always cherish our memories of Bonnie.

Now, let's all cheer up and move on, or she'll find a way to whap us all!

  23. oh no.
We can not believe this sad sad news. It's horrible when it happens so fast and unexpectedly. We know for sure.

All of you are in our hearts today, and for many days. No words will stop the grief and pain and loss, but it does help to know that you don't have to carry this alone.

Thanks for remembering Walter. May 18th was the one year anniv. of his sudden passing, and he was 10. It happened in just a few morning hours, just like Bonnie. They nearly died at the exact same time, too! We think you are right and that they ARE together! Walter raised Sadie, just like Bonnie raised Victor (sort of.)

Big furry love from ML and all of the Mosaic Furs.

  40. Time will ease the pain and we understand what you're going through, having lost 4 cats. Those who are not animal lovers look at you like you're crazy...after all, it was "only" a cat. No, not at all. She was a member of the family.

Give Victor extra attention since he's mourning, too.

  41. What a super poem - a purrfect poem for the weekend of hugs! We know how hard it is for you now, but time will make it easier. Lots of hugs always helps too!

Mommy loved thinking of thunder as kitties playing THoE over the bridge! Now thunder will always make her smile.

  42. i whapped mommy during the night last night for no reason in honor of Bonnie. we certainly do smile when we think of her.

we like that idea of the Thundering Herd of Elephants at the Bridge. We think they are heading our way this afternoon!

PS we have all of Shel Silverstein but the giving tree cause it makes mommy want to smack that selfish little boy

  43. ha! we certainly do NOT want to be whapped by Bonnie from the Bridge!!! we love that poem.

  44. Victor and Mom,

Now everytime we hear the thundering we'll know it is Ms. Bonnie playing on the Bridge! It is good to know that while you are sad, you are still moving on. The threat of a Bonnie whap is fierce indeed.

Purrs and headbutts to you all. It is so hard to believe she is really gone.

  45. So you're saying now that Bonnie is there I don't have to be afraid of thunder storms? I'm not so sure because we had one this weekend and I did "flat cat" right behind the bathroom door.

  46. And HUGS to you all too!

It's hard to move on, but we must. When Karma left, I moved in. When Nikki left, Tenny moved in. Such is the circle of life.

  48. Glad to hear you are holding up under the circumstances. All you can do is take a day at a time.

I'd like to think mancatly Gato has introduced himself to Bonnie and has offered his services at the Bridge... something like, "I've been here awhile, so anything you need to know, Bonnie, just call me."
