Mom on Monday

O hai! I just thought I'd share a couple kitty stories that Victor and Nina didn't want to tell from their points of view.

One morning last week, Victor was curled up under the covers, behind my knees. Nina started walking around on the bed, purring, and thought she'd curl up behind my knees. She SAT on top of Victor a few seconds before he wiggled away and she wandered elsewhere.

Nina has become our furry alarm clock. If their dad doesn't get up at 4:30, Nina starts walking on the bed at 4:40, purring. And across our pillows. And she noses any exposed hands. All while purring LOUDLY. Where's Victor? Curled up by me, happy to sleep all day if I never get up! I should add, *I* don't need to get up until 7, so there's plenty of time to go back to sleep while Nina sees Dad off.

Actually, if I sleep in, I end up with Victor beside me and Nina on top of me. It's her only "lap" time, and it's not technically my lap since I'm lying down. Then Victor rolls over, licks Nina a bit, then starts wrestling with her. All still on top of me. This usually ends when one of them makes me say "Oof! Off".

I love my kitties! They're very good, when they're not being naughty!

  1. Gotta love those furry alarm clocks! We have one too, Saylor, she starts biting at 5:30am. Silly kitties!

  2. I am lucky because my furry alarm clocks don't start til later - I usually get up at like 6:30 but if I sleep in the furry clocks don't go off til around 8. And even then it is only one that does it. The other three are fine with sleeping in.

  3. Oh, those furry alarm clocks. Mine get me up around 4AM every single day, though sometimes I can manage to stay in bed till 4:30. A miracle. LOL. I haven't set my actual alarm clock in years.

  5. I think that's a lovely way to wake humans up. Especially because the male is gone. I love it when the Male is gone...

  6. OUR alarm clocks run "fast"; tom doesn't have to get up until 5:15 at the earliest, but those rotten kitties start rattling the door (yes, they are locked out because of my allergies) anywhere between 4:00 and 4:45. most mornings, it's a darn good thing there's a door between us, or they'd be dodging boots and flashlights and such.

  7. Oh! I'm glad the door is open! Sometimes it is closed, but Victor is good at making it open again, one way or another... Purrs!

  8. Mom doesn't remember what it's like to have a cat-less bed. And when she's away, she misses us terribly!

    No, Really!

  9. I do enjoy stomping around the bed, across the pillows and over lumpy People, just to remind them it's time to get up and feed the kitties. I don't know why people don't seem to better appreciate that their cats do this for them...

  10. Eric: Mum has to make sure there is plenty of food in our bowls when she goes to bed, otherwise if I get the night munchies and there is not much food in them, I keep walking across their heads until she gets out and feeds us.
Flynn: I am a furry alarm at 3am when I run everywhere yowling as loud as I can.
