One Year

Today marks the one year anniversary of the day Bonnie Underfoot suddenly ran away to the Rainbow Bridge.

Those who knew her knew she was sassy, crabby, proud, beautiful, stubborn, silly, and sometimes sweet. We could pet her only on her terms. Her man was the only person she really loved. She guarded our house from intruders. She was to be petted little and brushed - never. She chased bubbles, balls of tin foil and ladybugs. She slept in her man's computer chair or on our feet. Running water was a must and if her fountain stopped, she lived in the sink. She terrified an Iraqi war vet, a cub scout troop and a plumber or two.

She was too stubborn to show she was sick. She never liked Victor, but she put up with him because her man wanted her to. A week before she died, they sniffed noses nicely for the first time. The day before she died, he got too close at treat time and she whapped him across the nose like never before. That was her farewell. "Kid, you're alright. But I still don't want you here."

The night of May 21, 2008, Bonnie seemed a little off. She slept beside our bed. At 6 AM, she staggered to the computer room to wait for her man. At 6:30, she collapsed with him at her side. Bonnie died at the emergency vet about 10 AM on May 22, 2008 from hepatitis and possible lymphoma.

Bonnie, we still think of you every day, and we always will.

Georgia on My Mind

Dear furiends, we have lost another blogging friend this week. Cheysuli and Gemini's sisfur Georgia has gone to the Rainbow Bridge to meet Bonnie Underfoot and so many other good furiends. Though Georgia was sick for a long time, she outlived the estimates and died at home, with dignity.

Friday is the 1-year anniversary of Bonnie's passing and we're thinking of putting up a slide show. Though I never met her (she'd have scared me, I'm sure!) I love seeing pictures of her and hearing Victor's stories.

Oh, and for the record, I *do* still fit under the couch!

Victor - The Bag Cat

Victor is at it again, trying to get to the front page of I Can Has Cheezburger! Please click on Victor to vote for him?

funny pictures

We got a poem and picture from Ann of Zoolatry! They made Mom smile this morning, which is always good.
"Twitterers need a twitter tote to tote their twitter twits n tweets."

Does that make Victor a twit? Could be...

Last night, we had one of those flash & crash storms. It wasn't too bad except for one time when it must have been right above us! The house shook, the boy spilled water on his keyboard, and Victor jumped and dashed down the hallway. Anyway, Mom was listening to Jazz music via satellite TV when the storm blocked the satellite signal. She used the remote to change to Classical on the radio. Then Victor settled right down on top of the remote, as though making sure she wouldn't change it. Maybe he likes Classical better than Jazz!

As for me, I've been watching birds, eating, sleeping, purring, playing... I could play with Victor's new toy, but it just isn't my kind of prey. When I really want to get some undisturbed sleep, I have my deep hiding places. Otherwise, I never know when Victor or the boy is going to poke his nose into my face. Mom and Dad give great rubs that make my tail go booshy and leave nice warm places to sleep. As the great Jeter Harris says, Life is Good.

Thanks again, Ann! And please vote for Victor!

Finally Furiendly Friday

Oh, HI! I'm so glad to see you! Do you like my box? It's just my size; Victor doesn't fit, hee hee! And anyway, it's red and I'm red, so... I claim this box in the name of Happy Cat!

Happy Cat Chose Red

There is just so much going on this weekend! First, today is May Day which feels like the true beginning of Spring here. We've had a little open window weather, but the beans won't leave the windows open when they're not home, so we're still waiting for lots of fresh air. ::pout::

Oh, today is also special for Gandalf & Grayson, two of the cutest gray boys we know!

For those of you who "tweet" like Victor (actually, I think he chirps), there's another, um, #pawpawty tomorrow for charity. For more info and instructions, Sanjee has a very helpful post!

Life isn't always about smiling and playing in lovely boxes. We blogging cats do our best to comfort our furiends when things get rough. Please, please purr for the Sherwood Bunch! They've been there for all of us.
As if all of that isn't enough, we got a mysterious message from Zoolatry! What do you suppose they're up to? I think I'm glad I'm not white! I can't wait to see their blog on Sunday!

I think I'll nap now so I'm ready for all the excitement this weekend! ::purr, purr, purr, purr::
