A Brief History of Cat Blogging

My furiends, we is amazed to realize just how long we's been bloggin. An when Bonnie left us, it's astonishin (an humblin) how many furiends said we had sumfing to do wif them startin their blogs. You's said we's stars in the blogosphere, but der are ofurs WE fink of as the stars.

Then anofur long-time blogger was losted last week, an sum of yous nefur knowed him. That made me sad cuz his blog was one of the ones that inspired US to gif it a shot. He wasn't the primary bloggin cat, but a strong background supporter fur one of the first cat blogs we finded.

About the time I was borned sumwhere in Marathon County, Whiskconsin (approx Mar 1, 2005), Mom discovered sum of the "foundin puddins of cat bloggin":
Mom specially enjoyed Max an Muddy's blogs, an noticed dat Max was mostly werds wif few pictors, while Muddy was mostly pictors, wif few werds. It wasn't dat she didn't like the ofur blogs, but she didn't favorite any blogs (DUH) an had to Google them efurry time! Den Max's fambly brot home Buddah Pest an Mom was efun more confinced she mite get a second kitty - ME!

I dopted Mom Oct 29, 2005 an der was so much to say bout me an Bonnie, Mom started a photoblog on TextAmerica*. Den she gaf Blogger a try, an here we is, bout 2.5 years later! Asides blogger, we's also got lotsa good furiends on Flickr an Catster, an many across all 3 catmunities!

We fink of ourselfs as part of the 2nd generashun of cat bloggers. Da first generashun includes efurryone abof an sum we didn't know yet like Abbie the Cat, Oreo an Edsel. I guess we's veterans, but then we'd be "vets" an I don't wanna be a vet! We's also met cats frum all ofur the werld an lerned dat cat lovers are efurrywear! ::spin::

So dat's what I gots to say bout da history of cat bloggin. Just look at how many cat blogs der are now! Hugs an purrs to efurry one of yous!!!
Luf, Victor

*TextAmerica changed an our accounts is goned *poof* so we don't go der no more.

  3. My how the time flies. I don't think of myself as a pioneer, but I am very flattered. William and Max both helped keep me going early on, and the addition of Josie and Huggy Bear to the family gave me plenty to write about! It is funny that you made this post, because, with the return of Whippy Curly Tails, we were browsing some of the "old school" blogs that we'd lost touch with yesterday, like Edsel and Oreo, and Dad found one that stopped posting a few years back and the blogroll on the side was so short and it really makes you see how big a community we've grown into. It's a good thing!

  5. This can't be true? Gemini started blogging before you? August 2005? Of course we never met anyone until we met Kukka Maria well into the fall. I think we knew Top Hat and Tails and that was about it.

  7. it is amazing how time flies. mommy was working a job she hated and was very bored at when she found Max, Timothy, Oreo and HotMBC. Still it was almost 3 months of enjoying their blogs (and buying Max's books) before I got mine. It was Sept 2006 and we had no idea what a great community we had entered. We're so glad to have met all our friends!!

We started blogging on August 15,2005. When Momma first 'dopted me she had started a diary for me, and then she thought about looking on line. She couldn't find anything, and then little by little she found the cat blogs. One of the first Momma remembers is Avram from New Cat City. We wish was still around, but he hasn't updated since last November. We found Save Wampi and followed his story for a long long time until he was completely well. Then we found Max and Timmy. That finally led to the beginning on the cat blogosphere. It's amazing how it's grown so quickly and how wonderful of a community we have now!

  11. We remember those old days! There were only a few blogs and it was easy to visit every one every day.
Timothy Dickens was the first one we found, then Catifornia with Purresident Larry and Sheriff Jinky - they don't blog anymore either since Larry passed away.
Our 3rd blogoversary is July 15th! Wow!

  15. Thank you for this! The Woman keeps saying if she had more time she would love to do a living history of the blogging kitties ('cause she's a history freak).

We started in July of 2006 after Skeezix found our *brand new* sisfur Kaze on Catster which we had just joined at the suggestion of a meezer friend on SICC. Then Latte came a month later and I was in November. Now we're on one blog.

This is all very interesting info we didn't realize the Hotties blogged alone before!

  27. Back when I first started, it was a lonely place for a kitty. It's way more fun now...

I'm really glad your Mom helped you and Bonnie start blogging. And even though we lose a treasured friend once in a while, the party keeps getting bigger.

But man, I really miss the ones that have already gone...
